This unique vessel has been woven by hand with close attention to pattern, form and colour. Crafted using durable elephant grass, the artist adds water to soften the grasses enough to sculpt it into it’s organic and unique shape. Coloured stitching then covers the entire vessel giving it a unique personality.
The Luanda basket features a flat base and has horizontal stripes against a neutral background. It is shaped similar to that of a milk urn and boasts two woven handles on each side. With a broad base and opening, the Luanda basket is useful for laundry and storage of newspapers and magazines.
