Nile Basket with Lid

The Nile basket has a flat base, a wide belly and tapers upwards to a narrower opening. Horizontal stripes in brown and black are complimented by the flat grey lid which features a loop handle.

Useful for laundry and storage but this basket’s main purpose is to be admired.

This unique vessel has been woven by hand with close attention to pattern, form and colour. Crafted using durable elephant grass, the artists add water to soften the grasses enough to sculpt them into it’s organic and unique shapes. Coloured stitching then covers the entire vessel giving it a unique personality.
